You know you’re in the South when Spanish Moss hangs from the trees
When we were in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, so many trees were draped with Spanish Moss. This Moss absorbs nutrients and water through it’s leaves from the air and rainfall. It rarely kills the tree upon which it grows but if it’s too thick it’s shade will lower the tree’s growth rate. It is harvested today and used in arts and crafts, and as bedding material in flower gardens. It’s always looked romantic and dreamy, to me.
That some interesting background info on the moss - just always associated it with the South but never connected it to what you use in the arts and crafts. Neat.
