Staunton

A little glimpse of small town America. Staunton Illinois; about 5,000 residents, about 40-45 miles NE of St. Louis. Staunton is on the (pre-1930's) segment of Rt. 66... There's a quilt shop here that my wife enjoys, I like to wander the main street while she shops.

UPDATE: a little internet research tells me "William Quade erected this building in 1890. It is an elegant structure built of brick and stone with one hundred feet of frontage and a depth of sixty-five feet. It is two stories in height with a basement and was occupied as a hotel and bar-room managed by Mr. Quade, the dry-goods house of H. A. Jones and the banking establishment of E. Freidman & Co."... It has several small storefronts now, including an insurance office, a record store and a Subway restaurant. But I see that the corner spot (which was a salon) is for rent...
Great shot. Staunton is a great town.
