Arthur Illinois is billed is "the heart of Illinois Amish Country". Interesting little town... They have parking areas behind the main street for the Amish to park their buggies.
I love hearing the clippty clop of those buggies. We used to live in PA and they have dedicated signed parking spaces at the grocery stores there too. Perfect edit.
I believe there are many communities that make that claim. It's interesting the different styles they make their buggies. This one is all black with doors. The Amish buggies in our area, the base is wood painted black and the top part is a brown canvas. No doors. The Amish buggies in Lancaster, PA where we just returned from are all grey with doors. The merchants in the communities they live in do provide hitching posts. This is the first I have seen a shelter too.
@skipt07 Thanks Skip! This was typical of the style we saw here. I've been to Lancaster, but it has been many years. And I like the Amish photos you've posted recently!
