Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery

"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war." - Douglas_MacArthu

So, I made a quick trip to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on the way home today. It is only about 1 mile off the interstate. Cold, and overcast day, about 30 minutes before sunset.... still and quiet. It is a very sobering place.

For February's Flash Of Red topic. I actually tried to follow the sub-theme today, this week is "Texture and Pattern".
great symmetry and pattern in this image - and such a sobering sight with all those tombstones in line

I love the uniformity of these veteran cemeteries (I love the scattered look of other cemeteries too)

I like the simplicity of these tombstones but it is a sad place.

My husband's old reserve unit was at JB. Such a beautiful cemetery there. Great shot of it.
