We were at an event recently where they served Purple Heart wine. We really enjoyed it, but wondered about the name. A quick google informs us that Purple Heart does refer to the medal for soldiers wounded or killed in action. A portion of the wine's proceeds goes to support the Purple Heart Foundation, "an organization dedicated to serving the unmet needs of military men, women and families."
I thought that was pretty cool, so now we have a bottle in our wine rack!
