Lovely capture. I really like the relaxed pose and the little paw detail. Do you do much post processing? I find myself itching to get this shot into an editing software and just lift the shadows a bit to brighten mama squirrel a little.
@gardencat Thanks Joanne. I always wonder what other people see on their computers. She doesn't look "too" dark on mine though she does blend into the tree. I shot Raw, lightened blacks a little, lightened shadows a lot, darkened highlights a little. Sharpened a little also but that was all I did. The lighting is kind of challenging, the tree is shaded by the house but all of the background is lit by the setting sun. I will try bumping the shadowss even further, when I get a chance tonight, and maybe try spotlighting her head. I don't mind if you want to download a copy and play with it.
There could well be differences between the rendition on my monitor and yours. I find that often even when I load my own pictures they tend to look darker on 365 than when I open the file directly on my computer also, when I viewed this squirrel on black I found she stood out more. I think the bright white surround makes the image look darker. In any case, I did copy yours and play with it ( just a very minor change). I'd like to show you what I did but not sure how to do that.
@gardencat I agree the bright white does make the image look darker. I'm not sure how to do that either. I couldn't find any way to private message someone.
