The name was derived from a kopje (hillock) from which a cannon was fired in the 17th century. It was to alert farmers in outlying areas that sailing ships plying the waters between Europe and the Far East had entered Table Bay for a stopover in Cape Town.
@blueberry1222 That is a very difficult question Krista as I actually only drink Chenin Blanc. On the odd occasion, I do enjoy a good red wine though. The problem is that the good ones are so expensive here and we do drink every day ;-)
