Oamaru Creek No1 by maggiemae

Oamaru Creek No1

This is a walkway alongside a park. Trying out water movement shots. Funny thing - people see you taking a photo of something ordinary they see every day and look at you then look back to see what was interesting enough for a photo! Walk on.
Love the rendering of the water Maggiemae and love the splashes of green!

Interesting "curtains" of water here, Maggiemae.

Very nice, maggiemae. Looks like a lovely place to walk. Love your comment about people looking back to see what you were trying to photograph ; )

Lovely capture and pov, Maggiemae. The colors are magnificent and so is the water movement. Beautiful work, my friend.

Lovely shot Maggie.

You did an excellent job! I have not figured this one out yet but need a waterfall to practice on. Good job. And you are right about people wondering about what the heck you are taking a picture of.

@maggiemae Look in exif it will have the details... On the menu on the right hand side of the picture

@sugarmuser Thanks - I did forget that and have now checked. The only difference which I didn't like was when I reduced the fstop and increased the ISO. Two of them were completely black so that setting didn't work at all!

@cdonohoue I took six pics changing the settings in each! Unfortunately my brain has forgotten what one was what! Damn brain!

I really like the reflections in the still water paired with the movement in the fall. An ease all of a sudden in tension, falling. It pulls you in.

A good eye to see what they never did when they walked past.

Beautiful shot

This is such a lovely capture. The water is flowing but it is still calm enough to cast a clear reflection on the upper stream.
July 5th, 2012
Beautiful shot, Maggiemae! Lovely soft water and very nice surroundings! People are funny that way. If you saw someone doing the same thing, would you turn to look at what was so interesting!
July 5th, 2012
Very pretty!

@marlboromaam and the answer is yes, of course! But we would with a smile on our faces instead of puzzlement!
July 5th, 2012
@mitch064 You have a nice way with words, Mitch - thankyou!
July 5th, 2012
@maggiemae LOL! With understanding!

this is really lovely... i like how you composed it with the lines dividing in half top and bottom, and then the bottom divided in two as well... works nicely to focus the eye on the waterfall :)

and indeed... people often try to figure out what i am finding so interesting as to take a photo of... and i definitely return the favour... what makes me crazy are the enthousiasts who decide that i really MUST come and take a look at THIS and take a photo of it as well... you know, i'd be taking a picture of grit, and get dragged off to see and photog the baby ducks... (the ducks were very cute, but REALLY, i wanted my street shot ;p)

Great capture of the water in this photo. That's funny. . .I would have missed the stag I photographed if another guy hadn't been stopped photographing it.

@northy Thanks for your comments, Northy! I actually had to take out some very ugly piping along one side! Great what you can do, eh?

I had that look yesterday as I parked on the side of the road to take a pic of a tree in the distance. I am sure the trucks that went past the drivers were thinking (what is she doing.) Great shot.

Water is a great subject - very calming and theraputic. I like the POV back along the creek, I love the colours and the water action, the textures and the composition. A really great photo.

Lovely shot -- I've had the same experience with witnesses to my efforts, especially the time I photographed the big red balls in front of Target.
