Three good things happened on my walk home this afternoon ( to adopt a friend's @happypat, nice habit):
1/ I saw this Pukeko (porphyrio) in the undergrowth by a bridge and this time my camera could shoot it clearly - good light!
2/- I found a $5 note on the side of the road!
3/- I said, Hello to a woman in her very tidy garden and got a smile!
The pukeko is also called the purple swamp hen and I heard its high querulous notes as I passed.
I have never heard of these birds, so thankyou for introducing him/her to us. And you probably made a lady feel very happy after complimenting her - and you can enjoy a cup of coffee!!!
Nice shot! Of all three events of you I would take the first as a very lucky one for me... The third is also good... The second... hmm... I would buy food for this pretty bird... It depends, of course.
Obviously somehow related to the Coots/Moorhens found in Canada/US...the colours are wonderful and the light really makes them stand out!
What a lucky day for you!
What a beautiful bird. Lovely light, Maggiemae. It's wonderful to stop and think of the GOOD THINGS THAT HAPPEN. You ALWAYS have such a positive attitude--one of the things I really enjoy about you ; )
Oh goody maggiemae I love to read three good things..welcome to the club, warning some days you have to try VERY hard to think of any but then you realise how lucky you are just to see a smile !! Lovely Pukeko, always a welcome sight in NZ !
Good things happened to you, but I like the last one best :)
Nicely captured-- looks as if he is on the run !!
What a lucky day for you!
