My SIL who had the bad stroke nearly 2 years ago, couldn't walk or talk and is in a Rest Home. There is no change. Today as we visited in Auckland, NZ, a small 3 week old pup was brought in to show her! She just loved him and was so gentle! The wee pup was so good and squirmed and bit gently at her fingers.
Three good things:
1. In spite of high activity going on outside our motel all night, we did manage to get some sleep!
2. Still got to be on line in the motel.
3. Home tomorrow.
the pup is looking sweetly at your sister. glad you had a visit with her and you captured this very tender moment. i hope your sister recovers, even if it's just her speech.
Puppies always make people smile!
I'm so grateful my sisters stroke was not so severe, and she is able to be fairly independent in her own home.
I think she should get a puppy.
Strokes are the very devil & something my elderly mother was terrified of having living on her own as she did....thought she would lie there all night undiscovered. She died 8 years ago & not of a stroke thank goodness.
Pet visiting does do so much for resident patients, you can tell your SIL is loving the contact with that warm little bundle.
It's a beautiful shot. I use to work with disabled children ( most with cerebral palsy) and would occassionally take our large Doberman in to see the children. The dog, which could be quite silly, was an angel and just knew how to behaviour, so gentle. After visiting all the children he would lie next to the child with the biggest need and go to sleep.
Such a touching and heartwarming photo, Maggie. It looks like that sweet little pup and your sister-in-law have formed a special bond. Pet therapy can be so beneficial. And I know the visit from you was just as beneficial and well received. Have a safe trip home.
Very sweet picture! We often take our dog to visit Anthony's mom. She responds as well. You are a very sweet SIL! As you know, I am behind on commenting but I saw you on my sister's page and I am so glad I clicked on this!
What a wonderful shot, Maggiemae. It is so wonderful that they bring in animals to homes like this as they do help those in the homes and cheer them up and so nice of you to visit your SIL and so sorry that this happened to her two years ago and still the same. Many stay away and avoid homes and loved ones or friends as in my Dad's case when he was in a home like this one. Glad you managed to get some sleep.
