This is an odd place in the middle of farmland near Ashburton, NZ. They built a lake and made jetties and built fancy houses around the water. There are no shops here, just this fancy restaurant with very fancy prices. John stuck with just asparagus soup and I did the mushrooms on ciabetta. Other options would have broken the bank!
Three good things:
1. On the way home and to safety, saneness and sorting.
2. Lovely hot temps again - 28deg but cooler as we drove south.
3. They didn't suspend the daily paper as required and the postbox was stuffed, but plenty of reading to be done!
Stunning restaurant to go with those prices...sounds a very exclusive place to live....just a place to eat so perhaps they don't cook just eat out!!! Sounds very hot!!
It looks quite plain for such a pricey place but I suppose if it's the only one for miles around they have a captive market -,almost! Pleased you are home safe and sound. However good the holiday it's always great to get home!
@jankoos John thought his asparagus soup had too much pepper in it and I thought they had put too much butter on the hot ciabetta but apart from that, very tasty! Not big portions though!
