My PO by maggiemae

My PO

It was a wet day today and I was waiting for an opportunity. Then along came Daddy Longlegs and posed long enough for this photo!

Three good things:
1. Cricket is on and its all day TV with the West Indies trying to improve on a bad series!
2. Telephone call with John's daughter in Manchester.
3. I like red and purple together.
nice focus, lighting, and colour

Cranefly?

Sad about the fall from grace of the once mighty Windies...

Looked large this has incredible detail...is that a fruit of some sort? Don't mention cricket...a dirty word in the UK at the moment!!

@happypat Thanks Pat for your comment! No, not fruit - one of those things that you shake and coloured bubbles float about! It just happened to be on the windowsill where this insect was thinking about Christmas!

Great detail when you look large! Nice capture - lucky he sat and posed for you!

I guess so many your girls are envy his legs.
December 21st, 2013
@yaorenliu Yes, Yao - most girls want long legs but not all have! Most men notice them too! - the long legged ones, that is!

Great capture

Cool close up.

I agree, red and purple are awesome together! And love your capture of Daddy Longlegs. It's been decades since I've seen one of them!

It makes a wonderful close-up

never know who will help you out.

Beautiful detail in the capture, very dramatic.

@bobfoto Crane fly is the proper name for these flies! Actually they shouldn't be called Daddy Longlegs - that's sexist! Should be Parent Longlegs?

wow, good find and shot
December 21st, 2013
Wonderful detail.

This is quite a shot!

This would not be called a Daddy Long Legs here. In my mind it looks a lot like a misquito! Great macro!
December 21st, 2013
Wow...fabulous shot of him, and great processing! Very cool!
December 21st, 2013
Great shot & processing -- Your Daddy-long-legs seem to be quite orange in comparison to the dark brown colour of ours !!

Amazing capture here Maggie...

A stinging closeup shot!

Nice close up and great clarity.
Yes, red and purple look really good together.

Great close-up and some great colours. I always thought a daddy longlegs was a spider? Maybe it's different things in different countries?
December 22nd, 2013
I just googled the name daddy longlegs and found we are both right - it has been used to describe crane flies and spiders.
December 22nd, 2013
Very cool shot, Maggiemae.

I think red and purple colors look great together!!!
December 22nd, 2013
That is creepy!

Jo
I am also a fan of red and purple together. Happy Christmas Eve.

whoa! i thought it was a mosquito. in any case, if i'd seen it, i'd probably have swatted it before i can think of shooting it. there was a man in our town back in the old country whom people called 'daddy long legs'. he only had one, having lost the other in the war.

@summerfield sounds a bit like my hubby who has very long legs that used to carry him around, running all the time! They always were thin and now they still are but good enough to use a chainsaw!
