USA forever! by maggiemae

USA forever!

I thought this particular shot exuded the American scene with the flag and the cocacola brand on the truck behind. They don't have to wear helmets in this state and often wear a scarf.

Three good things:
1. Definitely on the road to recovery.
2. The rain poured down, the wind roared, lightening flashed, sirens went off, downstairs in this old hotel, there was flooding and I got some good pictures of buckets and staff mopping up!
3. A Skype call to a sister in NZ regarding my elderly sister who is declining in hospital there. Better than email.
Cool shot

I agree! Beautiful Maggiemae! Apparently we are/were in the same State!!
August 6th, 2014
@ruthmouch We are, were? You were in Arizona in your last shot weren't you? I'm in South Dakota now. America is amazing for the photo opportunities!

Fabulous colour - the scene really pops. Fav

Lovely Bike and shot Maggie...Fav
August 6th, 2014
You really are a biker at heart aren't you?
August 6th, 2014
Many states don't have helmet laws any more. I once asked a biker why they chose not to wear one and they replied, "If I am in an accident I don't want to end up a vegetable." His thinking is that he would rather die instead of ending up an invalid.

Clever photo with that reflection in the bike mirror. Like you said quintessential americana. I love it. Fav.
August 6th, 2014
@skipt07 That's a valid comment, Skip. Our son in law had a motorbike accident and is in a semi vegetable state - for 7 years now! His helmet was not damaged!
August 6th, 2014
@snaphappi Gosh, Maggie - I never noticed that reflection in the mirror! Thanks for pointing it out!
August 6th, 2014
Fantastic scene that screams USA. Glad you are feeling better.
August 6th, 2014
How typically American maggiemae....I love it...big fave!
Everything seems big, bold & colourful.......your photos even look bigger & brighter....not better just different. No helmets is not good but do like the headscarf! Looks in keeping & you are definitely drawn to any motor bike.......John must be having a ball!
August 6th, 2014
@happypat Thanks Pat for that fav! I like how the photos come out of the camera just the best and there is little I have to do to improve them. John is glad of a rest now and then, I must admit!
August 6th, 2014
@maggiemae must be the sunshine maggiemae...mine are always better on a sunny clear day!
August 6th, 2014

Great street shot! I am glad that you are recovering.

Great shot -- big, bold and beautiful glad you are on the road to recovery !
August 6th, 2014
Exudes, definitely!
August 6th, 2014
You don't have to wear helmets in Florida either, but recommended. What a great bright All American scene you caught here. Hope you're enjoying your visit!
August 6th, 2014
Certainly shouts USA! Lots of vibrant colour. Like the reflection of the biker in the mirror.
August 6th, 2014
Wow. How time flies. Didn't realize you'd skipped NZ and were battling flu, GPS and near misses with fellow 365ers. Just had a lovely 10 day trip across America with you. Beautiful images. Hope that colds gone for good and you now can really get your teeth into this touring. Would have been great to catch up with Leana - an amazing traveller.
August 6th, 2014
that's one shiny bike maggie, gr8 shot
August 6th, 2014
@julzmaioro In some ways I agree with no helmets - your brain can get really sloshed in an accident with a helmet and you continue to live - as a vegetable!
August 6th, 2014
@ubobohobo Thank you Margaret for your nice comment! Cold is almost gone - now just hope I haven't given it to John!
August 6th, 2014
I do agree this definitely exudes the American scene. Great capture.
August 7th, 2014
Cool shot, but a helmet would be a great asset.
August 7th, 2014
So American ! Great shot !
August 7th, 2014
I agree that your photo represents some of the American ethos. This is a very thoughtful photo. Hope your feeling better.
August 7th, 2014
Nice one! See my alternate album...dedicated to you! So appreciate you Maggie. Glad you are on the mend. :)
August 7th, 2014
Love this shot, Maggiemae. Sure does capture the USA well. I did not know it was different from state to state wearing helmets. Wish you could have met up with Leana. So glad you are feeling better. Sorry about your sister but so glad you were able to Skype with your other sister. Definitely better than email. Take care.
August 7th, 2014
A great shot, very Americana. Love it.
August 7th, 2014
Yep, typical America, and sorry to hear about your Sister Maggiemae.

Brilliant orange colour and that patriotic flag. Great you're over the cold.

@maggiemae You are very welcome, Maggiemae.
August 7th, 2014
Fabulous candid shot, Maggiemae. I like how you've caught his reflection in the mirror.
August 7th, 2014
Wonderful colourful capture of a scene with great American flavour!! You have such a good eye for these shots!! Glad your colds a bit better!!
August 7th, 2014
Love this shot! His reflection in the mirror is great and looks like the bike is pretty cool too! Yes- a couple of iconic American symbols here. And is that a Harley Davidson key chain or is it on the truck in the background?
August 7th, 2014
Absolutely fantastic shot xx
August 7th, 2014
great composition
August 8th, 2014
great shot.
August 8th, 2014
Bev
Excellent candid. We have a helmet law here. I wouldn't ride without one, even if the state didn't have a law. Interesting color for the motorcycle. You might find a lot of motorcycles that have the US flag attached to them. The ones I've seen around here are veterans of the military. Scary about the storm and floods. So sorry to hear about your ailing sister. That must be hard for you.
August 8th, 2014
@prttblues Thanks Bev, I'm nervous about any email coming from NZ! Huge tributes to the military fallen around here!
August 8th, 2014
Love this shot... beautiful colors and composition... fav
August 9th, 2014
@lynnz thanks Lynn! Red's favoured this shot!
August 9th, 2014
Great candid -- he certainly defines the motorcycle culture!
August 12th, 2014
Interesting piece of info and a very good shot! I like it. Just like a candid one, I'm fully agree with others in that.
