Cliff-top

This place is where we had book club today and is a beautiful property with tended gardens, even a large pond with white ducks and a fountain!

Three good things:
1. My books to comment on were on my MacbookAir and my only comment was that the battery power ruled my reading!
2. Just further on from this house on the cliff, the road has slipped into the sea and is down to one lane! The good thing is that I didn't have to drive down it to get here.
3. Another wine tasting has been postponed till Friday night - its at our house! All because John filled in a form!
What a view!!

I like Johns form filling in......hope the wine is free! Beautiful venue for your book club......the vegetation round the house is very varied & the red roof stands out really sharply.....interesting place to go.....you are right re the battery too!

Gosh it's a hard life all this wine tasting and book clubs... Real taste of the power of nature here. Luckily it's far from the house

@fueast They reckon that if it carries on like this - the disintegration of the cliff, they will become an island!

Crikey you'll have to buy a boat the get there

such a lovely place and surroundings ... great pov

@happypat Because the house is on a promontory it needs to be sheltered from the winds so the only place you have a view here is on the second story!

What a gorgeous place. I love that red roof and obviously the surrounding view is stunning xx

Love the pop of red! Serves John right for filling in a form - he'll have to buy the wine!

@kwiksilver Thanks Gillian for your comment - he will have to have my OK before he does that!

It looks such a beautiful place - a bit scary though if the roads are falling into the sea. I like the sound of the wine tasting - well done John!!

Great house and view; i love the colour of the roof but would hate to live neara slipped cliff

Looks like a beautiful place with a view. I'd be worried about the roads though. Hope the wine tasting goes well - is it free? I guess you have to order stuff. We found the vineyards pricey when we were in NZ.

Great shot of a marvelous building in a beautiful setting. Landslips are a fact of like in the 'shaky isles' aren't they ??

What a pop of colour on the landscape --lovely !

@busylady Its probably a soft sell thing - you are expected to buy and go on a customer list. NZ wines are hugely expensive we have decided after our European sojourn!

I want to live there

Lots of great layers of greenery... with a lovely spash of red! Nice POV and composition.

Looks nicely secluded!

Looks so pretty! I would love to fall asleep listening to the ocean waves each night. But I don't think I'd be too excited about the storms that blow in off the ocean!

that's one outstanding shot, maggiemae. the sea, the rocks, the trees, the red roof! all pleasing and engaging.
October 10th, 2014
Wow! Lucky you! This looks like a wonderful place and such a gorgeous setting! May I ask what your book was for your book club discussion?

I wanted to let you know I'm heading down your way in a few weeks. Just making my SI plans now.

@khawbecker We don't read a common book - just talk about the books we have read!

What a great shot of such a beautiful place. I love all the detail you captured including those beautiful trees and that rooftop. Sounds like a really fun time. I guess John may be not filling out forms in the future. Now I understand about the wine tasting.

Lovely view!

Lovely view, Maggie. The red roof pops amid all the green. Such a shame it's slipping into the sea. I haven't read in ages. I should do that.

Surrounded by great variety of trees and shrubs, looks superb. Great venue for your club.

I might be driving through Oamaru on the 3rd November. I think that day I'll be driving from Dunedin to Christchurch. My email is lesley_chisholm@yahoo.com if you want to email with yours. We can keep in touch and hopefully stop by for a visit!
