My much older sister died last year at the age of 93 but she was always unhappy as her beloved husband had died 17 years ago. At his funeral she really wanted this song to be sung at the ceremony. The funeral directors in their wisdom had found one by ‘The Fureys”. Kay absolutely hated this version.
Now I have the privilege of burying both their ashes in a grave that has been newly found. - Kay’s mother’s. We shared a father. I downloaded the music she would have really loved, from the Opera, Martha and sung by Renee Fleming. It brought tears to my eyes and thence my photo arrived in my clever camera’s imagination. Great on black.
Three good things;
1. My small house is going to be overflowing with family.
2. The wonderful words from my dear 365 friends on two sad occasions.
3. A deep freeze.
So glad you found a version of the song that your sister would have loved. Versions of songs can be so different they sometimes sound completely different. You did well Magiemae. A sad week for you but kl you wil have a lovely time remember all the good things when all your family & friends come around...that's what these occasions are for.
How beautiful and touching. Your sister would be so pleased. I did the same for my mom when she died last yr after I located some of her 'requests' and feel comforted that I was able to do what she would have wanted. One of them was to release a dove at the gravesite. Well my thoughts are with you and the family. The photo is just beautiful!
i think your deep freeze is not the same as our deep freeze here, which is coming again overnight tonight. enjoy the family's company and may the souls of the dear departed look upon you with smiles from heaven as "the last rose of summer" (the good and preferred version) is played. wonderful processing of the "last rose".
A beautiful capture and presentation and a loving tribute Maggiemae . A very sad week , but may you have a lovely time with all the family - remembering and remising all the good and happy times you all shared
A beautiful tribute to your sister. how sweet...the last rose of summer. she would be really happy that you found the right tune and will play it for her. a last parting gift. my thoughts are with you, Maggiemae.
A beautiful tribute to your sister Maggiemae! I am so pleased you found her favourite version of the song - how she would have loved it! A houseful of family will keep you busy and you will all have lovely stories to tell. Very comforting at such a sad time to be surrounded by those you love! You and your family are all in my thoughts and prayers. Take care !
This is a beautiful image that surely would have pleased your sister for all it signifies! So sorry for all the sorrow you have had to endure recently!
This is so beautiful on black, Maggiemae. Such a wonderful tribute to your sister. She would be so happy to have her favorite version of this song. Thoughts are with you.
How beautiful. My dad always wanted 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra. We put a PowerPoint of photos together to the music and without too much thought the words matched up to the photos perfectly. I still play it now and as a family it is Dad's song.
@happypat Its so good reading what people have said! Inspiring and it makes one believe in hope and future good! This poor rose is on its last legs but stayed strong for this photograph!
So sorry for all the sadness of late.
