Mystery

This is a property a couple of doors along from us. Part of the land has been cleared for sale, the other part contains a well made brick house that has been completely overpowered by foliage. A year ago I would go past here and see a light on 24 hours in this house. Now I can’t even see the house! I worry about who lives here… in the past, have seen an old guy collecting firewood from a run down shed here while a cat watched. Now, no cats and no man. You can see here that there is an apple tree full of fruit, weeds growing everywhere. I have to suppose that the real estate agent is in contact with someone!

Three good things;
1. Picked up my knitting… After a couple of years, maybe this year, I’ll finish it!
2. A crescent moon - seen everywhere in the world - we have only one moon, Jupiter has 67!
3. Pulled out all the stops for a good poached egg including draining it on a sheet of absorbent paper! Super result!
I wonder what the story is.....poor lonely house

Certainly needs some TLC

Interesting looking property, probably be a very nice place once it is cleaned up.
March 23rd, 2015
Seems to be rather an eerie tale !! A nice looking place once the land is cleared !
March 23rd, 2015
@beryl @stevej This is the only place - at the back- where you can actually see the house! They need chainsaws and a four wheel drive to get at this house!

Bep
Nice looking place; maybe you'll soon get new neighbours!
March 23rd, 2015
Would make a lovely place to live Maggie.
March 23rd, 2015
What a shame the house ended up so overgrown, Wouldn't it be lovely if it could tell you its story
March 23rd, 2015
Love your story, I hope this home will find new owners !
March 23rd, 2015
A family with children would make the most of that garden.
March 23rd, 2015
@cancarrier The dense under-growth might hide a witch, though Christine!
March 23rd, 2015
@maggiemae Every heard of 'Grotbags' the witch?

She scared the children, till they figured out she was more scared of them.
March 23rd, 2015
Such a shame, you're right to wonder though because it's been known for people to be inside for years before anyone realises. Really hope someone buys it soon and brings it back to its former glory.
March 23rd, 2015
@cancarrier Does she have a pointed hat and a pointed nose? If so I do know her - she lives in our hall cupboard and won't let me use the vacuum!
March 23rd, 2015
@sharrystar The house itself is not for sale, just the cleared part of the land which is quite big.
March 23rd, 2015
@maggiemae That's the one.
March 23rd, 2015
It looks like a nice house with a planted garden at one time. Maybe you will get to know more when the land sells. I am useless at poached eggs, they always escape in the water!
March 23rd, 2015
What a shame that it has been left like that. Makes for a nice photo though! :)
March 23rd, 2015
House looks in good condition. We have some down the road which are looking really ragged (very old residents) - I think they have some support but I wish somebody would at least clean the windows - it's like Great Expectations!
March 23rd, 2015
@judithg I emailed the land agent inquiring about the inhabitant and they replied that 'Bill' is well and pop down with some scones as a neighbourly gesture. First of all, I don't make scones now; secondly I can't handle a chainsaw to get in to this place!
March 23rd, 2015
Awesome shot
March 23rd, 2015
Someone will come along and make it look great again. new neighbors perhaps.
March 23rd, 2015
Interesting story. I wonder if he's passed away and family are selling it??? It looks like a nice house. Someone ill love it again
March 24th, 2015
A little tlc and that will one day become a beautiful home site Like the capture and colors!!!
March 24th, 2015
It looks to have some beautiful wildflowers too unless those are weeds! It has the look of a mystery about it for sure!
March 24th, 2015
Mysterious indeed. Doesn't take long for foliage to get out of control when neglected for so long. Unfortunately, not an uncommon occurance.
March 24th, 2015
Needs some love. Good job on the knitting. Need to do the same.
March 24th, 2015
Kind of spooky to me.
March 24th, 2015
A sad sight for you to watch...looks as though it was a lovely little cottage at one time.
March 24th, 2015
Ah, very evocative photo and quite a sad story. I wonder what happened to the man and his cat.
March 24th, 2015
I'm glad you took this shot. Sometimes these places get sold and make way for newer buildings
March 24th, 2015
looks like nature wants its land back
March 24th, 2015
he must go out sometime, maybe a tunnel?
March 24th, 2015
Mysterious indeed!
March 24th, 2015
Lovely and lush but how odd!
March 24th, 2015
It is sad how some old people isolate themselves or are isolated. Still a lovely shot ofa very lush garden
March 24th, 2015
At least the flowers are looking after themselves.
March 24th, 2015
@yaorenliu There are also roses that have pushed their way through the thick bush!
March 24th, 2015
@nickspicsnz Apparently he is in there, alive and well, Nick!
March 24th, 2015
your mystery makes for a cool little shot though maggie :)
March 24th, 2015
Very mysterious. The flowers look as if it had a garden at one time.
March 24th, 2015
@tristansmum Through the undergrowth, you can see good plants trying to struggle through but also the invasive 'Old Man's Beard"!
March 25th, 2015
There must be an intriguing story behind this house. The new owners are going to have a lot of work to do!
March 25th, 2015
kinda like katy's @grammyn's sunday house. i like all the lovely colours, especially the greens. we need greens around here in toronto!
March 26th, 2015
A mystery to be solved. You have captured the pathos that imbues the overgrown gardens of the elderly.
