This is a photo I took off a photo of my father on his Graduation for a Barrister and Solicitor Degree in the early 1900’s.
I was trying to replicate a process in photography done with photos way back in time - this one called “Ambrotype’ that another 365 had discussed. It didn’t work - so I went off on my own. And I have to admit the photography in that time was pretty damn good!
Three Good Things:
1. I need to find some Liquorice Allsorts - they are not going to make them any more! I think I can…
2. My knitting needle broke in the middle of a row but I salvaged the stitches and found another needle of the right size in our dark and remote Garage Cave.
3. John got me another Indian jacket from the Big Indian Chief after I had lost my first one! I got out of the car to take a photo and the jacket fell out! Flippin photos opportunities!
Your point 1. worried me a trifle as we adore allsorts...............are you talking about Bassetts? Great processing on the portrait of your father ;)
Bassetts are the best & original Liquorice all sorts Maggiemae....I was seriously worried for a second! I take my hat off to you if you can make them!!
A very distinguished father ......I like the way he is standing & the way he is holding his rolled up scroll.
@happypat Aha - so I have to come to England to fill up my liquorice allsort basket! What I meant was there are still some left in the shops that I can buy and will vacuum bag them for the future! Unfortunately John is not allowed liquorice so it will be all for me!
I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve but it's a terrific shot!
I remember when you lost your jacket I'm certainly glad you're getting a new one. Kudos on salvaging the knitting and I'm very distressed to hear about the licorice not being made anymore!
@grammyn People were not buying it in NZ - too much else on offer, spoilt for choice! Its only the liquorice assorts that are being discontinued though. One of my favourites as a liquorice log that has a chocolate centre!
Nice shot and very cool processing. No more Liquorice Allsorts??? What???!?!?! That's not nice! I have got to get my other half to send me a stock pile now! I LOVE them. The only way I can get them is from him sending them to me from London. I can't believe they are going to stop making them! How'd you find out? He'd better send some with his cousin who is making a trek to Vermont next month!
@prttblues Liquorice Allsorts- it is only in NZ where it is no longer going to be made! Stil around in other parts of the world, particularly Britain, Bev!
