The Legality

This is a photo I took off a photo of my father on his Graduation for a Barrister and Solicitor Degree in the early 1900’s.
I was trying to replicate a process in photography done with photos way back in time - this one called “Ambrotype’ that another 365 had discussed. It didn’t work - so I went off on my own. And I have to admit the photography in that time was pretty damn good!

Three Good Things:
1. I need to find some Liquorice Allsorts - they are not going to make them any more! I think I can…
2. My knitting needle broke in the middle of a row but I salvaged the stitches and found another needle of the right size in our dark and remote Garage Cave.
3. John got me another Indian jacket from the Big Indian Chief after I had lost my first one! I got out of the car to take a photo and the jacket fell out! Flippin photos opportunities!
Very distinguished looking man and a good photo of a photo

Your point 1. worried me a trifle as we adore allsorts...............are you talking about Bassetts? Great processing on the portrait of your father ;)
July 15th, 2015
I like the processing on this ...... you can do this light leak effect on a couple of my phone apps :)

Awesome shot
July 15th, 2015
Distinguished fellow
July 15th, 2015
@pixiemac No its Pascall, Sarah. But there probably is another company making them - don't know about Bassett.
July 15th, 2015
@maggiemae Bassett's in the UK ;-D
July 15th, 2015
Bassetts are the best & original Liquorice all sorts Maggiemae....I was seriously worried for a second! I take my hat off to you if you can make them!!
A very distinguished father ......I like the way he is standing & the way he is holding his rolled up scroll.
July 15th, 2015
looks good maggie, , did you think of a sepia tone for your photo ??
July 15th, 2015
@happypat Aha - so I have to come to England to fill up my liquorice allsort basket! What I meant was there are still some left in the shops that I can buy and will vacuum bag them for the future! Unfortunately John is not allowed liquorice so it will be all for me!
July 15th, 2015
@phil_howcroft Yes, I tried all sorts, Phil (liquorice ones too! and the 'vintage' one which did look good as well.

What a handsome man (apart from his green hand). You have achieved a really nice result - it is as he stepping out from the pages of history.

Wonderful portrait! Love your processing too.

Lovely version of the photo. I also had second or two panic about the All-sorts, thankfully I am in the land of Bassets!

July 15th, 2015
@maggiemae well that's all that matters. You eat them all but you have to come back to England to try ours!
July 15th, 2015

July 15th, 2015
Wow... great processing! Nicely done.
July 16th, 2015
I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve but it's a terrific shot!
I remember when you lost your jacket I'm certainly glad you're getting a new one. Kudos on salvaging the knitting and I'm very distressed to hear about the licorice not being made anymore!
July 16th, 2015
Wonderful shot, and he is a distinguished looking man.
July 16th, 2015
@grammyn People were not buying it in NZ - too much else on offer, spoilt for choice! Its only the liquorice assorts that are being discontinued though. One of my favourites as a liquorice log that has a chocolate centre!

nice result...we still get Liquorice Allsorts out here but I've noticed the quality dropping
July 16th, 2015
Smart looking chap, and a nice portrait capture, I go along with the Liquorice allsorts, I've just this minute finished a bag.

Bev
Nice shot and very cool processing. No more Liquorice Allsorts??? What???!?!?! That's not nice! I have got to get my other half to send me a stock pile now! I LOVE them. The only way I can get them is from him sending them to me from London. I can't believe they are going to stop making them! How'd you find out? He'd better send some with his cousin who is making a trek to Vermont next month!
July 22nd, 2015
@prttblues Liquorice Allsorts- it is only in NZ where it is no longer going to be made! Stil around in other parts of the world, particularly Britain, Bev!
