Continuing with the road trip we worked our way further up the East Coast to a sheltered bay called Hicks Bay named after a Lieutenant on Captain Cooks boat. We wanted to climb up to the most eastern Lighthouse in NZ and set out along this coastal road towards the mountain. All along this road there were cattle wandering around but more horses than cattle. No fences. So many horses! I processed this shot a bit more than usual to bring out the horses colour and structure.
The track to the Lighthouse involved 758 steps up and it took 30 minutes. Photo in another album coming up.
Three good things:
1. John was very funny talking like a Maori but he didn't do it to their faces - every sentence was ended up as 'eh'!
2. Magnets in the shower curtain's hems!
3. Manuka oil factory. Bought some but it doesn't smell so good but got lots of goodies in for the skin.
Superb horses...I suppose they are Maori horses, they look in great condition. What a grand life they live! Magnets in the shower curtains...we used to have those! I would expect nothing different where you are, that's what's so appealing!
Now that would be a sight to see! Nice processing- great shot. Oh, I was going to answer your comment and now I forgot what it was. I'll have to go back and check!
I read the book "wild boy", in which Brando Yelavich talked about the wild horse along the NZ coast, it amazes me. How lucky to have a close encounter with them, I like your process too.
You should added another good thing with those you mentioned - you were able to climb all those steps (many people cannot do that). I would have, too - I wouldn't have let an occasion like that pass by. Love the hdr in this beautiful capture. More often than not I hate mine when I use hdr on them.
@sangwann Yes, got to be grateful for being able to put one foot in front of the other let alone one step upwards, Dione! It looks so artificial this photo but still beautiful!
Beautiful wild horses....love them!! Definitely have to visit that part of your country!!! So wonderfully scenic and wild!! Would love to ride these horses, but I bet not too many people can!! FAV!
Beautiful horse, lovely light and processing, fav. Ending sentences with "eh" supposed to be a Canadian thing, so if you and John come over to visit your son sometime, he should feel right at home! What part of Toronto will your son be moving to, do you know? At least I can now feel a little bit prouder of Canada for getting rid of the dreadful person we had as Prime Minister and putting his dreadful party out of power.
@tristansmum Once you have heard the intonation of their language, Stephanie - its not to be forgotten! Don't know about the Toronto area at the moment!
