Further north we enjoyed the views from the cliffs of Cape Reinga. A brisk walk down to the lighthouse and a slog back up but good for exercise. Our next stop was Mangonui which is on the East Coast and sheltered by so many islands and peninsulas. I took this - one of another pier with fishermen.
Three good things:
1. No breakfast meant a huge feast at Te Kao Tearooms where a WFI book paid for our meal and we got a bottle of red too!
2. The Zebu internet is cruel - a couple of views at 365 and your 50mb allowance is gone! Got one more ticket.
3. The cockatoo at the local pub as usual favoured John with his bows and fancy moves - check out fb “barney mangonui! He didn’t like me at all!
Fascinated by that seemingly floating fishing pier but as I look closer I thing there is a sloping walkway on the left between the platforms. It's hard to see as it looks white. Love that colourful boat with its colourful cargo ....not sure what sort I things are on deck. Your books are gold dust!
@fntngrma From watching what went before, he had just baited his line and was now throwing it out! Never stayed around to find out if he caught anything!
@dide One would think so Dianne but when I went to buy a piece of fresh fish there was none to be taken - it was all saved for the "fish and chips' for the tourists!
What a lovely place to stay - the internet gets v addictive, I get very twitchy when I can't get it and there was I getting cross with the children forever texting etc.
