Through a Looking Glass by maggiemae

Through a Looking Glass

Lunch at one of our seaside cafe's (how do you do an acute?) brought this photo op. It was cool and misty out there and the cloud was low on Cape Wanbrow.

Three good things:
1. Lunch - fish and chips was excellent and the chips thrice cooked.
2. Lunch and a walk with my sister down for a visit was also good.
3. Lots of rain over a few days will be very rewarding for our farmers.
Love your three good things today! I'm glad you had a visit with your sister. Sisters are such a blessing.

@jenniferruge I agree - you can tell sisters things you wouldn't tell anybody else!

Pretty - is your summer turning in to an English one - wet?
January 20th, 2016
@judithg There were many people that would agree with that statement, Judith! Cold and wet. However February might be looking a bit better!

A wonderful composition.

Thrice cooked chips....a bit greedy there MaggiemaeZ, Your summer looks like it's in the doldrums a bit! Hope it's going to buck up soon! Nice spot to eat your lunch looking at this harbour.

Neat composition and I like the misty, muted tones...#2 is a very good thing :)

@happypat Cooked thrice, the chips are so crisp, Pat - Di....Vine!
January 20th, 2016
@seattlite I do enjoy her visits, Gloria!

Because of the frame from the window this looks like a print of the harbor scene on someone's wall!

Grand effect Maggie.

Nice framing and effects; makes this a very artistic pic! Your three good things were also quite nice ...It sounds like a wonderful day all around!

Was this an app? I really like the art effect and mood you created...and ditto on sisters being the best in confiding....I recently had a visit from mine too!

@moreyoulessme I just used picmonkey to fiddle with in this picture, Jerri! Can't remember what I did though!

Interesting shot Maggie.

This is fascinating -- just trying to figure out how you did it.

I'm not sure what's the app and what's the window and what's the actual view, but whatever it is, it really looks chilly and damp! Very atmospheric! Of course the cold might be in my head since we haven't cracked 35 deg. F in a few days!

excellent shot

Capturing the view this way, plus the mist and muted colours, makes it look sort of poignant.

This looks like a very old photo to me!! It does look like a photo, in a frame, hanging on the wall!! Very creative!
January 21st, 2016
@cashew Yes it does, Kathy - the combination of mist and dull colouring seen through a double glazed window seems to creat this!
January 21st, 2016
@olivetreeann It was actually about 55deg F Ann but thats quite cold for the middle of summer!
January 21st, 2016
Looks like a photo from another time. Cool!

@creativeaddict Thanks Laur - that effect wasn't intended but I'll go along with it because I agree!

I'm a bit behind with commenting on your project - you've made my mouth water with the prospect of 'thrice cooked chips'!

How do you get an é? With any keyboard, hold down Alt and type 130 then release the Alt key - you need to do this using the numbers pad though. The way I use is to set my keyboard from UK to UK Extended (UKX) and then all I have to do is hold down the Alt Gr key and type e and é appears. You can get all the accents from the UKX keyboard setting - Google it.
