Daphne (/ˈdæfniː/; Greek: Δάφνη, meaning "laurel")[1] is a minor figure in Greek mythology known as a naiad—a type of female nymph associated with fountains, wells, springs, streams, brooks and other bodies of freshwater. I think I like Daphne! In our garden now and has developed nicely.
Three good things:
1.On my tags for the last blurry shot of me - I said, ‘to blur is human” - I did expect to someone to remark on the real saying: “To err is human, to forgive is divine”. This saying is from “An Essay on Criticism,” by Alexander Pope. I do think this is a really great saying for all sorts of reasons!
2. John hasn’t caught my cold virus thank goodness. But I’ll have to cross fingers for the next 10 days!
3. A great big book written by one of my new favourite authors!
That's an interesting looking flower. I missed your blur, I am rather behind with commenting. Hopefully I will be able to make some time to check out some of the pics that I have missed.
We have a local Laurel, the "Oregon Myrtle" and use the leaves like bay leaf in soups and sauces, or to make tea, but I've never seen it in bloom like this. I wonder.
This looks like a pink sea anemone! Daphne would have been a good name for Yolanda I think...a type odf female nymph etc! The saying you chose is indeed a perfect thought! What is the title of your book Maggie?
@maggiemae Oh I have been reading books by that author, the Seven Sisters. I read the next one too in the series but now waiting until November when the next one is published. I will try The Midnight Rose.
A most unique looking flower and a beautiful composition. I hate I missed the tag on your blurry shot. I must remember to check them because they are very often funny
Oh, I love Daphne, both the flower and the spirit.
I have never come across Lucinda Riley (don't know how I missed her).
But 'The Midnight Rose' is now resident on my Kindle, waiting for all to be revealed.
My Bay flowers in the spring with white flowers :-)
