St Andrews of St Andrews by maggiemae

St Andrews of St Andrews

With a name like this you would expect it to be presbyterian but it is Catholic. Located at St Andrews ( which is a tiny village on the east coast of the South Island in NZ) It has a pub, a church, a hamburger bar, a field where caravans can camp and thats it! This is a Roman Catholic Church built in 1903 and has been maintained beautifully!
If we weren’t looking for a chemist in the back road we would never have seen this.
I"ve not been able to look at 365 for the present few days owing to travel and no cell reception (not in the caravan though, unfortunately)
But....three good things;
1. A visit to sister in Timaru. She is not good and it upsets me to see her like this but she appreciated our visit.
2. Beautiful sunny day with the birds singing in the trees
3. Put grass seed on our new Caravan Park. I shall look out the window all night and frighten the birds away!
I like the look of this church, just the right size & it has a lovely bell...you can't beat a bell to call the faithful to repent!! Nice flowing decoration to highlight the shape. Hope your sister is comfortable as she can be Maggie.

@happypat Its quite amazing to see a church as beautiful as this one in such a tiny village - in England it would be normal! Sister not at all comfortable but seeing a specialist on Monday who will organise treatment to start.

@thistle Well the main subject was pretty nice - but good to provide the right light for it, Joyce!

I'm sure you're not so ugly that as soon as you look out of the window the birds get frightened seeing you, haha - just joking. Sorry to read about your sister. This looks like it is quite a quaint little church and I love the tones here. Thank you for finding the time to comment on my pictures.

What a pretty little church. I had to laugh because I don't think there are any Presbyterian churches here in the US that are St. Anything- they are usually "The First Presbyterian Church of..." (even if there's only one!). But many of the Catholic and Episcopal churches are named after saints- or Mary.

@olivetreeann Never thought about that Ann - but you are right - Catholics like to use Saints names!

I have obviously been neglecting you Maggie! Another lovely shot... some fancy new processing software involved here?
