The Challenge is finished and bikers are on the roads going home.
Our route chosen was to the south west to a very wild coast at the bottom of the South Island, NZ called Colac Bay.
Winds have shaped the landscape as here - the predominant wind is obvious and is blowing viciously as I write. Trees bend with the wind and stay bent!
Three good things:
1. Our caravan is huddled in a corner with two high macrocarpa tree hedges alongside! Even so the caravan rocks with the gusts.
2. No internet in the caravan but can get a small signal in the pub alongside. An excuse to go and have dinner there.
3. Whitebait fritters were on the menu at this remote pub and a treat - so fresh!
Your meal must have been lovely, simple & fresh, what more could a hungry diner want! You must be warm & cosy snuggled up in the caravan even in the wind. Hope it's warmer at home! You seem to be having variable weather this early summer. Looks like the sea could be over that horizon! Amazing trees bent but all pretty much the same height.
Very atmospheric and quite a rough landscape. The trees really show the force of the wind. And finally, that is no place for me. You must be brave to even pass through the area.
Blowing in the winds. here is a song title for you. the idea of being out there in that gale makes me cold all over. nice picture though. do keep warm. fav.
