Bringing life to our garden outside (including the wheelbarrow in the background)
If you don’t know this saying - ‘All my eye….” look it up! I don’t know where I remembered these - didn’t live in Britain!
Anyway - it suits the photo hopefully?
Three good things;
1. Great sun all day.
2. “Darling Buds of May’ on UKTV!
3. The cat vomited everywhere tonight after being fed and I was fed up with that - got John to clean it up!
Well !! I had never heard of this saying and so l googled it !! A lovely mystical capture in your garden and lovely flowers -- are they foxgloves ? good old John for clearing up the mess ! Poor kitty did she gulp down her food too quickly !!
I haven't heard this saying for years Maggie & yes it's one of ours! Perhaps your mum picked it up on her travels & said it to you? Love the way you remembered & wove it into your photo! Harry cleans the cat sick up in our house too! They come in handy sometimes these guys! I love a foxglove & yours are bending their heads beautifully, look like they're whispering!
Well I learnt something today - never heard of that expression before. Thanks Maggie and google! I like the foxgloves too. I think I might find and old wheelbarrow or two in amongst my weeds and trees too.
I can only focus on the cat being sick.... bleugh!!! I have a kind of fatal fascination/phobia about sick, ever since being at primary school and the horrors of kids throwing up quite regularly.... (shudders in horror!)
Love your capture! I'm not English, so I don't know the expression. But of course I asked Google for an answer.
Very interesting... http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-all3.htm
@grammyn To me, the phrase is so familiar (why I haven't a clue other than I thought everything was total rubbish all the time) so I haven't forgot it!
Love this Maggiemae, makes me wonder what else is behind the beautiful foxgloves!. Never heard the saying, so googled it & very "interesting." Made me smile... John is GREAT!
Very clever - and nicely done! So I did look it up, and am now further educated on alternate phrases. One of the things I really enjoy about this site is the occasional cultural uniqueness coming from the total international representation on this site. Thanks Maggiemae!
John's definitely a keeper if he cleans up after the cat! The saying I have not heard before although it is intriguing. on the other hand Lee's @gamelee saying is a real Northern saying and very familiar. Lovely fun shot
@gamelee@maggiemae Am familiar with ’my eye' and a simultaneous pulling down of a lower eyelid to indicate 'not on your Nelly', 'on yer bike', 'whata yer like'...a fav of R's, but not The Full Monty version as remembered here. TFM may of need some explication for those on the other side of the Pond! Am ducking ;-)
