In a great Camping Ground with acres of mown grass, lots of very tall trees and all the toilet facilities if we need them. We do not! However the wind is getting stronger and more noisy - gale force might be recorded in the lower half of the South Island.
In the morning when the sun was shining and the wind was hardly evident we walked this lake coastline and found this tiny cabin right above the lake waters. Only room for one double bed. Honeymoon stuff?
Three good things;
1. I pulled the blind up at 8am and saw a large circle of people doing ‘morning yoga”! I don’t think it was public or I might have joined in!
2. I washed the caravan windows with a very soft cloth -John was so nervous I might scratch the plastic! Much better.
3. Found a ‘Glamping’ option of accommodation here - very new - a canvas room on its own section on the lakefront with NOT mod cons. Be fun - lamps, no TV, outside loo, - can fish from the deck!!
4. I might have a shower in the morning to wash my hair - wind and no shampoo have taken their toll! Caravan or public showers? hmm
have not seen a public shower. don't think I'd want to though. the little cabin looks hot if it's made of what to me look like galvanized iron panels. never heard of the term glamping. must look it up. :-)
Caravan I think maggie, you wouldn't be able to see much with your shampoo on, someone might creep up! This dies look a very romantic spot, I bet those tall trees are moving about in the wind!
@dawnee We had a wild night here - the wind was roaring and the rain thundering down but no damage! A few small branches lying around. There is a huge mountain on the NW side which must shelter us here!
A very secluded spot for this tin cabin , Maggie and so lovely to be on the edge of the sea / I used to love caravanning by the sea and be able to walk on the beach 1st thing in the morning . We , when my husband was alive often took our van to the Welsh coast for a weekend and be away from it all --happy memories !
@beryl Actually a lake here, Beryl. The beach is too rocky to walk but there are little trails around. Actually managed to get hubby to take a walk, be-it small!
@daisymiller I used to think like that, Daisy but nowadays the campgrounds have upgraded their facilities and the shower and toilet - is immaculately kept - white tiles, gleaming taps, fan dry hands, etc etc.
We try to camp by the sea, rivers or lakes because they're more scenic, although not generally more than 15 mins walk into the nearest town. Wouldn't mind fishing here.
