A day of memories and support. Our beloved cat was helped to become a memory rather than an agony watching her deteriorate and not being able to make any difference in her life! You just have to let go…!
Three good things;
1. It was a ‘worldwide photo day - at 5.47pm exactly and I appreciated the challenge
2. Nice warm day with sun and a lovely sky at this time today.
3. The candle is still burning…
A lovely image. They become so much a part of your life. I curse my two cats at feeding time but acknowledge that it would be very strange without them.
It's one of the hardest things that we pet owners and lovers have to do, but knowing that there were 15 years of pure love, joy and happiness hopefully makes it a little easier to deal with. I hope my kitty, Charmin, and yours are batting around a mouse on a stick together in heaven and talking about how much they miss us. Lovely photo.
A strNge day when you have to do something so hugely life changing in your lives. It must be strange & silent around your house just now. Feel for you.
@happypat Its been quite silent for a few weeks, Pat! Every now and then I would check to see where she was and try and give her food. She was mostly asleep. But now the house is empty as you say!
So sorry for you loss, Maggiemae. It is such a hard decision to make, but sounds like your kitty was ready to go and no longer suffer. Thoughts are with you. A beautiful photo, Maggiemae.
this feels like a contemplative and serene shot. So sorry to hear about your cat. It is very painful and emotional to say goodbye to a pet but harder to see them suffer.
Her light will burn forever in your heart Maggiemae. It is never an easy decision to make. My thoughts are with you and John during this difficult time. May your precious fur kid play in peace
@ltodd Thats such a nice thought, Lyn! I did think there was something about the butterflies that were continually fluttering around the doorways today!
I called the church (United Methodist Church in Hamilton) and was told that the area once had a large African American population, and the cemetery had been neglected, fallen into disrepair, and forgotten. The concrete slab with all the headstones on it was built about 30 years ago because many of the headstones had toppled over, and they couldn't tell where exactly they belonged. So all those headstones are on the slab in memory of the deceased they belong to, and as a way to honor them.
So sorry for the loss of your beloved pet ...wonderful that you have happy memories of her, and are comforted by knowing that she is no longer suffering.
Your pic is beautiful and poignant; such a warm lovely glow from the candle.
So sorry to see this Maggie. Our pets are such a part of our family and it's history and to see them suffer is unbearable. You've made the right decision by her, I hope she is chasing birds and mice and having fun over the bridge.
Having lost 2 dear cats and a darling dog, I understand how you feel. Keep her safe in your heart in that place where time helps us to come to terms and accept much that is unwelcome, yet makes us strong and enables us to comfort others.
My condolences Maggiemae. what a beautiful candle tribute to your beloved cat. it must've been a hard decision for you to let her go, but knowing she isn't suffering any longer I'm sure will ease your pain. hold on to the wonderful memories and think of her often.
Oh dear! What a difficult day it must have been for you. Always so difficult to do right by a beloved pet even when you really know it IS the right thing to do. Hope all your lovely memories keep her fresh in your thoughts.
So, somehow I got off track with your project and missed the sad but necessary event with your cat. It's a hard decision but you said it so well. When we can't make a difference in their lives it's not good to let them suffer. I think your candle is a nice way of depicting the day. Thinking of you!
