The Blue Pub by maggiemae

The Blue Pub

This nice but wet, lunch stop appealed to me especially for the soft Autumn colour changing of the trees outside this well known pub. It’s called the “Blue Pub’ and is an old hotel well renovated but not luxurious. In Methven, a town west of Christchurch and near to Mt Hutt, it is a great skiing resort in the winter.
Three Good Things:
1. I’m amazed….. the guy at the next table used the F word every 5 seconds and John didn’t flinch. I took that to mean that in a pub style place you get all types and you have to love it or leave it.
2. We missed a turning, and planning for a wild couple of days to cope with the end of Cyclone Debbie, chose ‘Grumpy’s Park near Geraldine. Grumpy had to reboot his modem several times for our ‘free wifi’!
3. Expecting rain on the roof to increase but actually looking forward to it - we don’t have to move!
Very blue as was the language apparently! I like the glowing effect on the autumn colours too.
I hope you have battened down for the expected rain we are getting it a bit but quite mild as yet. More is expected. Take care.

What a great colorful building. Wish that person had a better fing vocabulary!!;-) I've given people looks for the f word. Especially when I am with my kids.

@kiwinanna I can't batten down any more than I am, Liana. Hope we don't get flooded out by the nearby river!

@alophoto I do agree - the more they hear it around them, the more likely they are inclined to use it.

This is lovely. It looks like a soft watercolor painting.

I don't care what colour the decor is as long as the beer is good but inconsiderate fellow customers are something else again.

@vignouse the guy using that word, thought he was so funny! The more the others in the group laughed, the more he used that word! I hoped he would fall off his stool - he was really obese!
April 4th, 2017
@maggiemae The F word I can tolerate - obesity I cannot... it shows a lack of self-respect, and those who don't respect themselves, seldom respect others!

@vignouse Wisely said, Richard!

Lovely processing

Lovely photo and processing...As for #1, a café is not the right setting for the F bomb :).

Well it did not dare to be called anything but a Blue Pub , could it ! , as for blue words aka the f word I am afraid it makes me cringe ! and when teaching it was a language I did not tolerate in my classroom and the pupils were well aware of it and on the whole respected me for it !! they were aware of the wrath of the Welsh Dragon ! ha ha !!

A lovely image . Stay safe

Such a beautiful soft focus to this very colorful image. Being in a safe place and hearing rain on the roof must be very relaxing

Lovely scene and autumn colours Fav

Looks painterly.

I absolutely hate the F word! We hear it more & more & you're right it is catching. Those that use it think it's clever but it just shows how course they are. I would move away in case I catch it too!! You seem to be having lots of rain, the cyclone Debbie I think. Must be bad as I see Ant is not working on his fencing so must be wet! Lovely watery colours here & a well named pub! You will npbe city in your caravan but it must be a noisy roof!

@happypat Yes, its the remnants of Debbie and flooding is rampant in the North Island but not down here. Its just drizzle here at the moment but we are warm with the heater on and no leaks.

@grammyn It is rather, Katy - being in a caravan gives you an excuse to sit around doing nothing!

Intriguing processing and sense of place. You captured the sense of being there just after the rain.

Lovely capture

Looks suitably drenched.

It does look pretty wet - but what a pretty blue to brighten the day.

The trees could be straight from one of Toulouse Lautrec's paintings of Paris. As far as I'm concerned, improper language indicates a lack of self respect, respect for others and the need to address such issues.

Lovely shot with lovely colors.

@s4sayer Thank you for saying this as I agree - wet pavement and all!

Wonderful effects in your photo, and I had a good time reading through your narrative ...#1 of your 3 Good Things was hilarious (mostly because I can identify with that situation)! I probably would have had to sternly stop my hubby from commenting in that situation -- He hates to be subjected to having to listen to people use unacceptable language.
April 6th, 2017
@dsp2 Good to identify with that - the more we stand together, the more difference we can make! I would have done my filthy look at him but he ha his back to me!

Loved the blue of this aptly named pub!
