Cyclone Debbie made an impact on the northern areas in NZ - flooding, slips and road closures. However down in the South Island where we were, there was no real rain till we got into this tiny town of Pleasant Point. But there was no good phone coverage here so internet was not available so I couldn’t do any 365 or FB communication. The TV worked with John backing into a tree filled domain carefully so our satellite pointed through a hole in the foliage.
Three good things:
1. We learnt: don’t park under oak trees when it rains - the noise of the large drops on our roof were bad enough but when an acorn fell, we cowered!
2. This cute van parked here and two white-haired oldies crept out and did the power connection. Honestly they must have been in their 90’s! Taken when it became dark… and I’m so pleased with the challenge!
3. Bought some local marmalade -called The Shepherd…. Lemon rosemary!
Great night shot. Very cool with the negative spacing around the van. I smiled when you said that you cowered when an acorn fell. We have two oak trees in our front yard. When the acorns fall, it sounds like we are in a war zone. That first acorn fall always gets to me.
Lovely lighting of this peaceful night scene! I enjoyed reading your narrative about it -- especially the part about the falling acorn, and the mention of delicious-sounding lemon rosemary marmalade!
Have lived the acorn drama in our campervan. The first time, middle of the night, was the worst. One learns thought and looks for billets NOT under trees. Easier said than done.
We have lots of Oak trees in our yard and when the Fall comes so does the rat-a-tat-tat! It may be a bit noisy but it keeps the squirrels happy. Nice shot!
The marmalade sounds delicious. I would love to share it on a piece of toast with you
