Ready to Go....

Out on the wide open and bare spaces of the El Mirage Dry Lake, hundreds of bikes, cars and the most odd vehicles gathered to prepare for the races.
This is where the Munro bike was backed out of the van to be seen by us and the rest of the audience gathered.

John was there and so was Lee who is going to ride this beast and try for a record for its own particular class!
Three good things;
I. It was so hot but dry - not uncomfortable but one appreciated any shade that was around.
2. We had previously bought some food as there were no hamburger joints around - strange, that!
3. The roads are rough with judder bars etc but people seem to travel so fast!
Super looking bike. Being out in the full sun can get rather warm so I have no doubt that any form of shade would be greatly appreciated.

How exciting!! Good luck to Lee going for that record. Try to keep out of the sun - although that sounds impossible there. Enjoy the races!! The bike looks fabulous!! Fav!

I would never have thought to take this scene, but it really does look good.

How exciting for you all. I hope you were wearing your sunnies, the ground glare must be blinding.

Magnificent image that shows the heat from the glare. Best wishes for a successful ride and win of the competition for Lee

@onewing You are so right - like the snow for blinding light!

@grammyn It was so hot - I felt almost sick standing in the sun so kept to the shade of the temporary sun shelters. 29 deg C...!

Just the beginning of the fun, I think. Yes, our summer is definitely here! Stay out of the sun and drink a lot of water.
May 21st, 2017
@aglennc I've got to be careful of drinking too much water, Anita - the portaloos are absolutely miles away!

Stunning bike. It all sounds very exciting. Stay cool and keep showing us the photos of the experiences you are having.

looks like a great place to go fast and still be relatively safe. In this picture, I can definitely feel the glare of the sun, though

@francoise All that bare expanse of lake flat - looks so white in the photo but its actually light brown. Sun glasses are a necessity!

travelling fast is the north american life, for some reason. that indian looks real gorgeous! is it a new model?

You can really feel the atmosphere in this picture, the white hot background & blue sky gives a real feeling of space of the open dry lake. You must be rather proud of Lee, keeping it in the family is rather wonderful! Good luck to him in his race. Amazing looking bike, some design will have gone into that!
May 21st, 2017
@happypat It was a normal road bike but they have modified it - like Burt - to go faster. It got a lot of attention and Lee is a skilled rider. Today he attempts 176mph!!

@maggiemae I know that feeling. It's nice when we have our motorhome with us...... have our own.
May 22nd, 2017
@aglennc I wish we had a motorhome here - its fantastic - like salt flats for miles and miles - all so flat and the mountains in the distance.
