Polar life

Oamaru Stone is a marvellous stone to work with both with building and carving.

There are numerous stone carving events here but this one was a magnet with lots of new talent.

Held down by the foreshore at the town of Oamaru in NZ it is a drawcard for the tourists.

No guess for what this one is about… ps… its advertised as $6000NZ to purchase! But its huge!

Three good things;
1 Hubby’s gone to Lions and will have a 3 course superb meal… I indulged in a chocolate and walnut sandwich!
2. Downloaded two more books on to my kindle!
3. Bought some more winter clothes - have to consider Switzerland in January next year!
These are beautiful!

I think I will stick to looking at rather than purchasing. They are rather elegant. Chocolate and walnut sandwiches is not something I ever thought of before.

Beautiful but at that price I will only be looking! A chocolate and walnut sandwich sounds rather interesting.

@helenhall @salza The sandwich was divine! Crunchy and flavoursome and good for the soul!

@grammyn I had to crouch down to get this sculpture against the sky, Katy! Managed to get up again - thought that was deserving of a chocolate walnut sandwich!

October 5th, 2017
Splendid sculpture, particularly striking against the palette of the sky.

I thought this was white chocolate at first glance! Oamaru stone is such a beautiful white stone, its unmistakable! Looks like it could be quite a soft stone? I am very near the end of my massive fat proper book will be so glad to get back to the light handy kindle!

@s4sayer As I said to @grammyn Margo - I had to crouch down on the ground to get the sky in - otherwise it would have rubbishy bits of railway line and odd boxes!
October 5th, 2017
@happypat Thanks Pat - I notice this has gone to PP - first time that has happened with no favs!!
October 5th, 2017

What a beautiful carving and such a lovely natural stone. Wish we had spent more time in Oamaru when we were there.
