Redcliffs by maggiemae

Redcliffs

With one eye on the oncoming cyclone downgraded to Category 2 but still may be devastating, we kept our Christchurch visit to an afternoon. While parked by the sea, several parasailers dropped in at the park nearby from way up high!
Three good things:
1. I haven’t heard the description “dressed pies” for a long time but some Australian visitors looked at our purchase at a cafe and made that comment!
2. They were really good!
3. Tomorrow is a spare day to get somewhere safe, not beside a river or at the beach and hunker down!
Love the parasailors! Safe travels tomorrow!

@kali66 I'm sure we would be Kali! But we have all the necessities for surviving with us - gas, battery, food, toilet etc! Just hope we don't get tipped over!

@maggiemae Make sure you park up somewhere very sheltered - and don't go sightseeing. (I'm sure you know that already) How convenient of those parasailers to drop in front of your camera - nice processing.

@kiwinanna Not next to trees, either, Liana! A good macrocarpa hedge would be good!

Beautifully timed capture.

@skipt07 No, I don't think its going to Skip - NZ are in a state of alert! And...don't tell anyone but we are camped next to a stream! But we are on a state of alert too - I'll be out looking at the level of the water every 1/2 hour!

@summerfield It might be exciting though Vikki - if we got taken by a flood and distributed further downstream?

Gita certainly looks a bit frisky! Fingers crossed all will be well for you and that stream doesn't rise!

Awesome timing to catch him right before he touches down. Stay safe!

Now that would be fun to photograph- the parasailers, not the cyclone!

Hope you can stay safe. Avoid parking close to trees.

@onewing We thought that too, Babs - but as yet haven't had any wind! It may arrive tonight!

@maggiemae Just heard on the news that areas around Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, parts of the West Coast, Wellington and Horowhenua are expected to be hit by the cyclone this evening. Hope you aren't in any of those areas.

Yes, we are in Marlborough at the moment and we are hopefully above a flood level but we will see. No wind yet!
