No internet and zero cell coverage continued today. But once we reached the wild east coast near Cape Turnagain ( Captain Cook), the local tiny hotel had free wifi! But our camping location is almost impossible with cell coverage and no wifi.
This place is a one way trip but worth it. Today there was a huge offshore wind and it blew the spray off the rolling waves. A lovely sandy beach that we will walk along when the wind dies down.
Three good things:
1. Seeing the back country of New Zealand.
2. Fixed the stove - hurrah!
3. A nice cosy and sheltered spot in the camping ground surrounded by hedges.
@dide Thank you Dianne! We plan for about 5 to 6 weeks. Auckland will be somewhere close to John's elderly sister in care in Herne Bay area. Then the far north calls!
Wow that abundance of waves, one after the other rolling in! It looks incredible! I seem to have lost track of where you are, I must back track. I imagine you turned right from Wellington as I've never been round there & don't recognise the names.
@happypat We did turn right, Pat -unknown territory mostly for us too! Seeing the back country of NZ - so beautiful - nowhere in the world quite like it!
Hi Maggiemae, we too are camper vanning around New Zealand, all the way from the UK. We have had a tour of the North Island, with my favourite place being Rotorua with it's steamy geothermals everywhere. Today we arrived on South Island and are heading south. Don't you live in New Zealand?
@shepherdmanswife Yes we live in the South Island, but are currently campervanning in the North Island and on the east coast at the moment! Having a ball - hope you are too!
