The drawcard of Wifi kept us going northwards. The tiny coastal village of Porangahau and a general store which enabled me to catch up on paracetamol. Enough said.
The Chapelwick Coastal Estate was our destination at the end of the day. This chapel was built in 1854 and is obviously used….. I held a sermon there from the pulpit to an empty congregation!
Three good things:
1. In this estate we parked in the orchard - pears, peaches, lemons, grapefruit, oranges, figs, olives and quinces!
2. On a walk up the road - flat and tar sealed, my foot encountered a stone and twisted and I fell down..flat! Good thing - no breakages - a few bruises though.
3. I played the organ in the chapel - a pump wind organ and my feet provided the wind! Not exactly Handel!
The little chapel sounds quite uplifting! I would love to hear you play. I am always amazed at how one can move both feet and hands to play an organ. I only learned piano. Lovely shot!
What a delightful and pristine building love its painted over lapped wooden walls and its narrow windows - everything looks in harmony Sorry about the fall - hope not too much damage !!
So charming, I am so pleased it is being used...I love to go inside these lovely places & sit I just look around & "feel." Take care walking on those roads. I so enjoy following your "journeys." :) :)
The perfect chapel to spend an hour on a Sunday, it just cries out for a family dressed in simple Sunday garb. Sounds like you were your own celebrant & congregation! A sweet smelling camping spot with all those delicious summer fruits surrounding you. Sorry about your fall, that would shake you up, hope bruises aren't to sore, perhaps more water next time! I'm only joking if course!! Perhaps all that fermenting fruit or the mozzies got to you!
Oh, Maggiemae! I am so sorry to hear about your fall. I hope it doesn't spoil the rest of your trip!
Beautiful subject and composition. I so remember pump organs in church when I was young. How marvelous to have found one and to be able to play it! I wish I could have heard it AND the sermon you delivered!
Lovely image and it sounds like you fully engaged in the experience in the chapel. So sorry to read about the fall - I guess this is what has led onto your suspected cracked ribs. I do hope you manage to control the pain whilst healing takes place.
