If we hadn’t decided to do this trip, we would never know the beauties of so many places in NZ! It seems to be a new area every day, so different and so interesting.
This one was a tiny settlement in the middle of the North Island but a very interesting history with Maori battles and surveyors trying to establish trigs etc.
This was in the local pub which seemed to be a cordon bleu restaurant with high prices. I chose my meal which had the duck fat roasted potatoes!
Three good things:
1. A wonderful smell from the cafe that we are parked near.
2. Two weeks on from the rib breaking.. gotta get better soon!
3. Learning to ask John to do things that I can’t at the moment.
Anthony told me when we went that way to Rotorua & passed the lake you stayed near, he said it was a great place to find Sitka deer & here they are on a wall. Very hard to see apparently as they blend in so well with the surroundings! Must say these dear look alive!
That is quite a striking, almost upsetting image. But glad to see that, rib and all, you were still in a rather horny place today. Hope you're feeling better soon.
There seems to be much more of the animal than one would normally see - which makes for a very striking - and perhaps disturbing image. Well captured though and keep your patience the weeks will pass and the ribs will heal.
Friends tell me 6 weeks to heal ribs! no fun travelling with broken ribs I am sure. The restaurant you have gone to sounds like a carnivores delight . I like the shadows
@maggiemae I just saw the title of this photo, you are in Pirongia! I know it quite well as J & Ant stayed in a friends sleep out while they were building their house near Raglan.
You could compromise and go for 4.5 weeks, half way between the 3 and the 6! Hope you are feeling much better soon either way.
What a fascinating display.
Looks like a hunter's paradise- sounds like a good meal too. I hope those ribs are feeling stronger every day. It was 6 weeks for Jeff when he cracked some of his.
Fascinating subject and detail. I like the light and shadows too. I'm so sorry to hear that you are still being bothered by those ribs but I imagine it will take longer than two weeks to feel back up to snuff
What a fascinating display.
