Down wind by maggiemae

Down wind

This little yacht making its way out of Whangarei Harbour to other harbours.... Auckland, Lyttleton, Fiji, Tahiti, San Francisco?
Three good things:
1. Rainy and windy day so we all watched the Commonwealth Garmes and cheered NZ on!
2.Good cell coverage.
3. Recharged my computer on the other Van's generator.
Great image the little yacht looks rather vulnerable :)

Love your 3 good things, and your 1 bad thing! I don’t know how your tags stay in proper order, mine are always jumbled.

Love this in its mono-tones and layers ! - just like an exercise in painting !

@maggiemae Thank you!!!!!

Love how teeny it looks in the windy water

The yacht looks rather forlorn and tiny in the open sea.

@onewing That was the idea of the picture, Babs - I could have cropped but that idea of 'forlorn and lonely" is what I feel!

It does look so tiny and alone out there, but the wind looks fantastic for sailing.

@casablanca I think you must know about sailing! You have to have wind! Constant wind is the best but gusting is not so good unless you know what to do in an instant! ( history for me)

@maggiemae I have done plenty of sailing in both little Mirror dinghies and larger yachts. Hubby is brilliant and fully qualified. Teenager just knows by instinct where the wind is and what to do - amazing! Me? I respond to instruction but am never comfortable when the boat is leaning right over!

@casablanca You sound exactly like me! But I have to admit we have given the sons another challenge!

It looks so small set in that huge scenery.

Beautiful image, Maggie.
I hate barking dogs...

Lovely layers and I like how you didn't crop out the tree as it gives a sense of where this shot is xx
April 15th, 2018
Love all those layers and the little vulnerable boat.
April 15th, 2018
Great layers and tones.

such a lovely scene.

It looks like a gloomy day, perhaps a nip coming in the air already, good to have something to keep you interested when you cant get out much.

the sea is always wonderful!   my friend, correct me is the sea or ocean?
April 22nd, 2018
@olenadole well one is the same as the other, Nadiya! Both names mean that big blue yonder that we cross to get from one side of the world to the other!
