Invasion by maggiemae

Invasion

The wisteria when the flowers have gone are all into establishing territory. Sneaking vines work their way in our entryway, and are planning invasion! Trying to broach the Front Door!
We need to have the toughest and most advanced technology to overcome this! Commonly called secateurs!
Thankful for:
Several pairs of secateurs - ones that have lost their spring may or may not be thrown away!
I saw a demo the other day to make Christmas wreaths using these long tendrils.. you could get creative..

@julzmaioro I think they might go all limp if I used the secateurs, Julia!

@maggiemae you twine several together keep on building up until they are sturdy.. tie ends together with florist wire..

These tendrils are tenacious! Lovely capture.

@julzmaioro Sounds tricky, Julia but I might give it a go! Like my granddaughter's hair was woven with blue ribbon...I couldn't believe it. How do you wash your hair!

off reminds me of the return of the triffids.... Be careful!
December 22nd, 2021
@christinav that word came to mind too... wasn't it "Day of the Triffids"?
December 22nd, 2021
@maggiemae yes indeed i just looked it up - there was a sequel but it was called a night of the triffids :)
December 22nd, 2021
@christinav Oh, I don't think I'll investigate that one!
December 22nd, 2021
It's an invading triffid!!
December 22nd, 2021
Reminded me of the Triffids too.

ha ha, I have jasmine doing the same thing!

They definitely look like they are invading! Don’t let @summerfield see this or she will assume there are aliens lurking about!

Love reading all the comments, creepy crawlies on the way inside!

Thanks for a chuckle today! And teaching me a new word (secateurs). In the US, we call them pruners.

“Pruners”, “trimmers”, and “loppers” for increasing stem or branch diameter! And I thought “lopper” was an informal term rather than the proper descriptive term! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loppers

Oh, the things I learned from this post! :)

My secateurs never last long…they come apart, I lose them, leave them out & they go rusty….I have no idea where the latest ones are! Vines grow like wild fire…that one will be up your stairs before you know it….oh no you don’t have stairs but you get the gist!
December 22nd, 2021
well atleast you know you have a healthy wisteria.
December 22nd, 2021
@grammyn For all we know there might be a camera on the end of this long tendril - invading our privacy!
December 22nd, 2021
@happypat If we leave the front door open for too long, it will be in the door and round the corner into our bedroom!
December 22nd, 2021
@rhoing One does if one has the time, Thom! But I thought it would be 'decreasing' the stem of branch diameter rather than 'increasing'!
December 22nd, 2021
@maggiemae I feel certain there just might be! LOL

Looks like it needs to be trimmed back a bit. Some plants can be so aggressive
