..now who would want to take a photo of all these paper bags. They have taken the place of plastic bags which is excellent. I ordered a supermarket delivery for today and this normally last us for 4 weeks! Just a diary event!
Good to know: NZ had an event which caused multiple police teams arrive. They really were so good to watch while they organised the public and handled the shooter. Not good for him of course!
@beryl I remember as a child being told we were killing the trees and should swap our paper shopping bags for plastic. Now they say we are killing the planet with plastic and should use paper! One extreme to the other. Oh for balance in the world!
You can get paper bags here in Maine put without handles and I guarantee they will rip either on you way to the car or into the house. I prefer my cloth bags.
Reusable bags are probably the way to go, but that’s difficult with deliveries. Last time I had a Tesco delivery everything was loose in their boxes & you had to unpack at the door! Then the driver is wanting to rush you because he only has so long at each delivery! I rarely do deliveries now.
Using trees to make paper bags seems the smarter choice to me. Trees are a renewable resource. I am incredibly impressed with you if you can get all of that put away in only 10 minutes!
That’s a lot if bags & good to see no plastic! We all, or the majority of us use our own bags when we go shopping these days. If you forget you can buy a material reusable bag at the checkout. It seems like second nature to us now….what will you do with all those….put them in the cardboard recycling bin perhaps!
We had a "defacto" ban on plastic bag use in supermarkets. But the stores have got around it to a large extent by selling "reusable" plastic bags. A lot of people do take their own material bags now though so that's a bit better. And, surely they make the paper bags from recycled paper?
If they have recycled paper bags it would be great - trees are renewable but aren't always replanted - I use the reusable bags and if I do end up with plastic ones I reuse them. I couldn't shop for 4 weeks - I couldn't think ahead about what I might need or what I might want to eat hahaha
