Sweet and Sour by maggiemae

Sweet and Sour

Cole Slaw. I have never done this before but with absolutely tons of cabbage in the fridge, decided to try it. The usual slaw but quite a lot of sugar in the dressing - about 1/3 cup!

It was delicious!
Looks good

Looks yummy- although I'd have to reduce the sugar for sure!

@happypat The sugar is the sweet and sour taste, Pat. It is like the cabbage and other ingredients are pickled.

@olivetreeann You have to store this salad for over 4 hours, Ann - it then becomes slightly pickled. Like me at times!

I love cole slaw. I'd have it with anything. I used up some leftover carrots the other day for slaw. No cabbage, no onion, just grated carrots, raisins and peanuts, mayo and a bit of vinegar. Probably not slaw at all, but delicious. No added sugar either. :-)

@jamibann I like the sound of that combination! Carrot salad that's called. I don't normally put sugar into cole slaw - it was just the sweet and sour recipe. Will last for ages!

Yum - any fresh salad suits me.

Interesting.......I have never liked coleslaw you buy in the shops. Not a fan of mayonnaise. This looks quite appealing like this.

@casablanca No, no mayonnaise like there is in so many recipes. Sugar, vegetable oil, white vinegar and I add a bit of mustard.
