Northbound by maggiemae

Northbound

Northbound looking towards Oamaru Station where no passengers alight anymore. There used to be cups of tea in thick china and pies with tomato sauce and a train conductor who blew his whistle! Sadly no more passenger trains on this rail!
good perspective and presentation

How empty! Your description speaks of days gone by!

Nice treatment; sad to see these old stations lose their purpose
October 25th, 2012
That is sad- and the shot has that feeling in it. Well done!

Beautiful

A very effective, forlorn and sentimental pic. I gotta fav it because it tugs so hard at my heartstrings! Go 'hed on wif yer bad sef, Maggie! Awesome shot!

What a sad thing to see those older passenger trains disappear. I used to enjoy seeing them when I was younger.

Nice framing. Draws me right in.

@pawar_ramesh thank you Ramesh, I put in in B&W because rail tracks are not colourful!
October 25th, 2012
@thendrix58 thank you Terry - nice to have your own rambunctious personality on my photos!

@ferry_tjan thank you Ferry for your fav! It's a dismal and sad phot but has feeling, I think!
October 25th, 2012

Deb
Nice perspective !
October 25th, 2012
@deburahiru my perspective was a bit worrying Deb! Freight trains come through here regularly!
October 25th, 2012
Love this pov
October 25th, 2012
toot toot! railroad tracks run right across the back of our lumberyard so i watch them every day. never get tired of them.
October 25th, 2012
Where you lying on the track, good job no more trains on here but it sounds a very happy train station in the past...shame!! I never get the impression that NZ is a great railway country!!! Love your low narrowing field.
October 25th, 2012
Looks like a old English station, great capture Maggie.
October 25th, 2012
Great processing and pov. There's something so enticing about railway lines - where are they going? who's going to be travelling on them? why? etc etc
October 25th, 2012
Ah, another disused railway. I love anything to do with trains and am always sad to see lines abandoned ... but you paint a very realistic word picture of what once was, so thank you for sharing, and for sentimental reasons it has to be a Fav!
October 25th, 2012
I agree with @wordpixman , I also love trains and hate seeing infrastructure left abandoned or torn up... fav from me also...
October 27th, 2012
@asutherland1964 Thank you Andrew - I like favs on sad railway stories!
October 27th, 2012
@wordpixman It does have freight trains come through quite regularly and the business of railway freight has picked up! Different from the passenger input, though!
October 27th, 2012
this is wonderful! really like the pov and those leading lines converging and drawing the eye in!
October 28th, 2012
This is really wonderful...love the processing and editing of this shot!!
October 28th, 2012
Great perspective - looks like it's in the middle of nowhere :)
October 28th, 2012
It's not actually, Mags! It's the main trunk railway line in the far south! But there is a future that might happen! They are trialling short rail trips for people from Dunedin to Oamaru!
