The bush that hums... by maggiemae

The bush that hums...

This is a huge bush type tree - about 5 metres tall and at the moment covered in tiny flowers. The bees are constantly busy and you can hear the hum as you walk past!

Near the tip of this branch of flowers, I was reminded of the TV programme, 'Keeping up Appearances' where Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet) picks up a flower at the run in of the programme, to smell it. She looks down and there is a green worm which sends her cross-eyed. Patricia Routledge is just perfect in this character.

My green worm was not noticed until I downloaded this picture! Can you see it?
lovely colours

Beautiful flower - the bush must look fabulous if it is covered in these flowers. Does it have a lovely perfume too?

Lots of beautiful detail here maggie

@pamknowler No, funnily enough, Pam - no scent! I wonder how the bees find it! You can understand with lavender!

@maggiemae It looks a bit like a lilac bush which has heavy perfume. Perhaps the bees just see the flowers are fully laden with nectar.

I like the soft tones

They don't need to be fragrant to us for bees to gather the nectar and pollen. Beautiful and it does indeed look like a lilac or deutzia.

Oh and yes - the little worm is cute!

Lots of bees! Fun!!

He blends in quite well, just as he is supposed to do. I have found spiders, ants, etc. on my flower photos. Always a fun surprise. This is a lovely shot.

@cathieg Your heart is never wintry, Cathie - its warm with care and love!

@pauliek I went out to squash him and he wasn't there! I don't think he would eat much though!

Yes, I spotted the green worm who camouflaged himself quite well. Beautiful colors and detail. Very pretty! We have a large red powder puff bush that is always loaded with bees, too. Consequently it's not very well-trimmed ;-)

Very pretty!

Yes I thought he looks a bit different and is larger than the rest of the little green things sticking out. never heard of a humming flower bush, but then we don't have that many bees around. definitely looks similar to a lilac bush.

Pretty shot. Nice green worm photobomb.

What a pretty shot. I see the worm! I also know the show Keeping Up Appearances and Hyacinth is too funny. You are so right that the actress is perfect for that role. I love watching the reruns when they are on.

Lovely blossom. It looks like a huge hyacinth , see the worm. Sorry for lack of comments, hoping to gradually catch up.
