Down at Lake Ferry which is right on the south coast of NZ, there is an assortment of holiday or permanent dwellings. I think it would be a population of men who lived here in an isolated way but loved to fish - and drink beer in the hotel.
@olivetreeann Its pronounced batch, Ann and is one of the NZ words for a holiday house. The other name is crib but that one is for very small cottages.
It's not just men that enjoy that type of life. Lots or women share these interest with their husbands or boyfriends. Or for people like me that just want a o get away from it all occasionally.
