The Dunedin Club by maggiemae

The Dunedin Club

House was built in the 1860's and became the home of the Club in the 1880's Its very grand inside and its where we had the whisky tasting and were able to stay the night! I did feel like a Lady!
Always good to have a room where you do whiskey tastings; beautiful building

Bep
Great capture.
I just started to read a book by Eleanor Catton "The Luminaries", (The Man Booker Prize 2013).
The plot follows Walter Moody, a prospector who travels to the fledgling West Coast of the South Island settlement of Hokitika, near New Zealand's goldfields in 1866 to try to make his fortune. Instead he stumbles into a tense meeting between twelve local men, who draw him in to the complex mystery behind a series of unsolved crimes. Nice to read the name of Dunedin in this book...

A beautiful place to visit & stay maggie! Bet your breakfast was amazing! They do think all things Scottish down there, the tartan would fit in very well here! You didn't have far to stagger to your bed!

@happypat No staggering, Pat -it was just a thimbleful of whisky to taste. But I climbed the grand curving staircase to our room in fine style!

@gijsje That book has been quite famous over here, Bep - a huge read and some say not worth it, others enjoy! Didn't know it mentioned Dunedin!

looks very colonial

@phil_howcroft The right words, Phil - sash windows, a grand staircase, another staircase in the back - probably for servants! Chandeliers, red carpet etc. etc.
