That is fascinating! We have a bird-shaped mound in north Louisiana (maybe the other one east of the Mississippi?) but it is not nearly so clearly defined.

@eudora Well that "fact" was inscribed on the monument nearby dated 1940! And it actually said "both in Putnam County" so I'm going to guess that your Louisiana bird is either west of the Mississippi or discovered after 1940.
