On our way home from Milwaukee we took time out for a couple of side trips, one of which was the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. We had seen it before, but Marisa hadn't... and because of the fog she still hasn't. :( We did enjoy the museum and the video, but it would have been really nice to have been able to see the monument itself. The large chunk of rock in the bottom left photo is from the left eye, which you can see that being worked on in the photo at the bottom right. That photo also gives you just a bit of an idea about the size of the monument. If you have not heard of this monument, you can learn more here: http://www.crazyhorsememorial.org/facts.html
nice collage! Interesting site, too.
I was at Mt Rushmore YEARS ago, and I'm pretty sure Crazy Horse is near there, isn't it? I don't think we went there, tho. I'm going to have to ask my mommy now! =-)
We also were at the Grand Canyon on that trip; the fog also completely obscured that, and tho we waited for hours, it never lifted enough for us to see it. Some day I want to go back to see it!
@2thgirl Thanks... Yes, Crazy Horse is near Mt. Rushmore. Bummer about the Grand Canyon... pesky weather can really ruin a sight-seeing trip. :) The Grand Canyon is on my list of places I want to see, also. @hagscat Crazy Horse is an amazing project and I hope to get back there at some point, however since they don't think it will be finished for about 60 years, I will not be able to see it completed.
