From the school "parking lot" a view of my downtown. (Best viewed magnified.)
On the right from the bottom: County library branch, Crossett's Food Market (owned by the best grocer ever!), City Hall, McCoy Valley Museum, The Old Mill, recycling collection center, Country Attic antique store.
From the bottom on the left: Fire Station (volunteers), Crooks (seriously, that's his name!) Insurance Agency, empty building, Fraternal Hall, and just out of sight, The Fit Farm fitness center.
Not pictured (on the cross street) are the following businesses: Post Office, Bank – loan officer and ATM only, psychologist/counselor office, book bindery, gas station and Co-ag Grain co-operative office.
I love the feel of traveling down the road in this this shot when viewed enlarged. That taller house behind the food market looks really interesting too. Nice view & capture
@wheatfarmer5 Thanks... I may have to do a set of just the old mill... maybe some now in the snow and some in the spring when it's nice and green around it.
@mebswartz Thanks you... yes, the old mill is abandoned, but I think there are still tours sometimes. I don't know if you have ever heard of MaryJane Butters, but she owns it now. I am thinking about doing a set of more photos of the mill... maybe in the snow and maybe in the spring.
@heidievans73 Thank you! The trees are my favorite part, too. I took several shots and this is the one I chose because it is the one that didn't have the trees cropped either all or most of the way out. :)
oh I love this photo. To me this is the "traditional America" that I've never seen but would always want to....this is how I think everyone outside of NY, LA and the major big cities live. Oh how I love this site so we can see where other people live! Perhaps we should do a challenge "on the street where you live"
OK ............so I was wrong .......THIS is Currier and Ives!!! I love the "aerial" view which is what makes it so stunning and the trees in the snow at the top are what make it Currier and Ives! Absolutely wonderful!!!
@sharonaddison Thank you so much! I agree about this site and seeing everyone's "homes." THere have been a couple of threads where people posted something representative of where they live, but I like the idea of "on the street where you live."
