...peonies. And with the peonies come ants. I was surprised to see the ants already on the tiny little buds, though I never really thought about when they appear... I just know that when I am admiring my peony blossoms, I can find lots of ants on the plants.

@tobi It's not a flower yet, just a tiny bud. The curly purplish things are the leaves unfolding. I will post a photo of the flower when it is in full bloom. In the meantime, here is a shot from last spring. http://365project.org/marilyn/365/2011-06-28
