15 November - As winter nears and the weather cools, this quilt symbolizes warmth to me. Not just the physical warmth provided by a quilt, but also the warmth of family for which I am most thankful... my Mom, who made the quilt; my Grandma, whose dresses I see in some of the fabric in the quilt; and my siblings, who each got a quilt just like this.
@grammyn I cannot believe the praise you are heaping on my shots... so far since I started back all of them have been with my phone and I feel they are just medium-to-good. This one I "enhanced" in iPhoto which really helped with the "lighting" and then (also in iPhoto) did a small tweak of the "definition" which helped a bit with the details being just a little crisper. But... you can keep that praise coming because I truly value your opinions and comments! :)
@hankinsphoto Yes... my Mom has made several quilts for the family. In addition to these Cathedral Window quilts, each of us (4) kids got a quilt years ago that was made of scraps of fabric that Mom had used to make clothes for us or that we had sewn ourselves. Each of the 11 grandchildren have a quilt made for them that has hand-quilted outlines of 10 - 12 various things that were part of their lives (e.g. for my kids - a first car, outline maps of European countries/Australia which they visited, cheer pompoms, dance shoes, baseball, basketball, etc.) and also used scraps of fabric from clothes she had sewn for them and were finished with hand-quilted borders relating to them (e.g. for my kids the WSU logo on Jeff's and teddy bears on Marisa's). Those quilts are truly works of art as well as works of heart!
