When the adult Grebe dived underwater looking for fish, most of the time the young one just sat still waiting for the parent to surface, looking around from time to time. When the adult popped back up out of the water, the young one swiftly paddled over, calling quietly in the hope of more food.
Now and again the young one also popped underwater, copying the adult, but I didn't see it surface with anything it had caught for it's self. Think it needs a few more lessons.
