This is Ryvoan Bothy near the top of the Pass. These are free to use and are scattered through the Highlands, either for a night or two on a planned walk or as emergency accommodation if things go wrong.
I detoured off my route to photograph this, but I had come in from the right, passed the bothy and headed left, dropping down to Glenmore Forest.
This is probably about 10/11 miles into my walk, and up to this point I think I had met about 4 cyclists and one runner.
From here I began to meet a few more people walking up from Glenmore.
It seems to be a popular walk up to the bothy and back down again. The brave or foolhardy maybe, walk up the mountain behind the bothy. This is Maell a' Bhuachaille, its only 2650 feet /810 metres high but the path, which starts by the bothy,up the side is an extremely steep zigzag, however on a clear day you do get some fabulous views from the summit.
After reaching Glenmore, a quick coffee and it was time to jump a bus back down to Aviemore.
I could have walked down, and have done the full route in the past, but it adds at least another 8 or 10 miles depending which way you go, to the 16/17 miles I had already done. As I was thinking about it, the bus turned up, so I chickened out and got on the bus.
