POOLS AT PENMON by markp

POOLS AT PENMON

Another shot at Penmon Point on Anglesey. From this angle it is a bit easier to see how the lighthouse is actually distanced from Puffin Island.
I'm loving this area! Certainly shows it from a different angle :) Now, you'll just have to help my geography a bit - you've named places very well but i need some more info on where this actually is! I'd love to visit :)

@gilbertwood Thank you Denise, Penmon Point is at the south east corner of the Isle of Anglesey, which is separated from the north west coast of North Wales, by a narrow tidal strait, which runs from Caernarfon in the south to Bangor in the north. Close by, on the mainland, you have Wale's highest mountain, Snowdon, and the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.

Holyhead, on the opposite corner to Penmon, is a major ferry port to Ireland. Anglesey has many claims to fame, but a small village near to the main road and rail bridge on to island has the Worlds second longest official one-word place name. It is, are you ready, take a deep breath......

This translates as
Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the church of Saint Tysilio of the red cave.

It is the wrong time of the year to easily get Puffin shots, so I have posted one from last year.
